By the Time I get to Woodstock...

This will be my last post until I get back from the recording trip in mid August. I would like to promise pictures but it's hard to shoot and play and sing at the same time. Unless you're doing porn on a web cam. That's for you, Andy. But I'll try to get some pix. Woodstock, here I come. Again.

One last time I'm gonna say that the CD so far is going very well and the best is yet to come. Five songs done. Six to go. Deni Bonet is gonna join me for a day or so in the studio and I can't wait for that. She rocks so much and I can't wait to hear her new CD. Which is done and coming soon to a website near you. I'll be directing you there.

I was going to report on my reaction to Sicko, the movie. But that got changed to Sunday so all I can say at this point is that we should all probably see it. And then do something to fix that part of the world.

I'm greatly disturbed by this story about ASCAP closing down small marginally profitable music venues so that they can squeeze even more pennies out to give to Top Forty stars. I blogged about this at least two years ago and it has gotten worse. I have enough original material to play a gig without ever doing a cover but people want to hear cover songs. 'Cause they don't have to pay as much attention and they can talk and not feel like they are being rude or missing something. ASCAP is a perfect example of a great idea that went too far. Ran amuck. And became as bad as every other scam artist on the planet.

I'm starting to set the stage for a site redesign to promote the new CD. Ditto over at MySpace. This thing is going to cost a fortune. A fortune I won't get to leave to my grandchildren. Wait, who am I kidding? There is not now or ever going to be a fortune to leave. But fortunes are relative, aren't they? So I'm gonna work very hard at promoting this project when it's done. Unlike the last halfhearted effort. But this CD will be so worth it. Of that I'm sure.

So I'm out of here for a month. I'll try to read all of you but will not have time to comment or post. If I do, it will be very sporadic. Enjoy your Midsummer.

Enjoy your trip - looking forward to more when you return!

Wow! I had these same thoughts today about my own union, AFTRA and how let down I feel that both the right and the left opposed the merger with SAG. I felt that the Musicians union and Actors Equity should have formed one big union with us to counter the conglomerates. But when we lose by 3% because Ed Asner and Charleston Heston agree we shouldn't merge, it hurts us. I'm with you, Bud. Whats up with these ASCAP people? Geez! Knowinbg how positive you are I know you are above all that stuff. Good to hear from you! (((HUGS))) to our friend Deni who also rocks!
